In the 2008/09 season Rastorgujevs received two first appearances in the IBU Cup , the second highest competition series in the adult division, and each reached the points of the top 40. The following year he made his debut in Östersund in the Biathlon World Cup , where he was in his first sprint because of the Using a wrong track was disqualified and took 17th place with the relay. As one of five biathletes he was part of the Latvian Olympic team and came at the 2010 Winter Games from Vancouver , both in two individual races (as the 50th of the sprint and 58th of persecution) and in the season for use with which he 19 and finished last. Rastorgujevs at the World Cup in Oberhof (January 2020)

Rastorgujevs established himself as one of the strongest runners in the World Cup field from the 2012/13 season : While he was in the midfield of the athletes competing there with his hit rates of around 80%, he was one of the six fastest athletes on the track this winter. In the following years, too, his runtimes were consistently two to three percent better than the average and thus remained only about one percentage point behind those of leading athletes such as overall World Cup winner Martin Fourcade . As tenth in the pursuit race on Pokljuka in December 2012, Rastorgujevs placed in the top ten of a World Cup competition for the first time. Three months later he finished fourth in the 20-kilometer individual competition in Sochi and ultimately finished the 2012/13 World Cup in 36th place overall. The Latvian maintained this level in the following winters: by 2020 he was among the top ten in more than 30 races and consistently occupied positions between 13th (in the 2017/18 season ) and 29th place in the World Cup rankings during this period He was twice on the podium of a World Cup race in second place: first in March 2017 in the mass start in Oslo behind Martin Fourcade, then in March 2018 in the Kontiolahti sprint, where he was 5.8 seconds behind Anton Schipulin . Together with his teammate Baiba Bendika , Rastorgujevs also represented Latvia in several single mixed relays. The duo reached the top ten several times and took seventh place at the Pokljuka in January 2020.

At the European Championships in 2014 , Rastorgujevs won the 20-kilometer individual race with three shooting errors and won his first international title. He was 0.3 seconds ahead of Benedikt Doll , who had also missed three targets. In the sprint that followed, Rastorgujevs secured another bronze medal, also in the pursuit at the 2017 European Championships . He became European champion for the second time in 2018 when he beat Alexander Loginow in the sprint by 5.5 seconds. Rastorgujevs won the sprint silver medal behind Matwei Jelissejew at the EM 2020 .

Andrejs Rastorgujevs is a member of the Latvian military and is trained by Intars Berkulis. He is married and has one daughter.
