Krassimir Anew ( Bulgarian Красимир Анев ; English Krasimir Anev ; born June 16, 1987 in Samokow ) is a Bulgarian biathlete .

Career

Krassimir Anew is trained by Diana Galewa and starts for Rilski sportis . The sports teacher from Samokov has been practicing biathlon since 1997 and has been part of the Bulgarian national team since 2004. In 2004 he made his debut in Obertilliach in the Biathlon European Cup for Juniors. But it wasn't until 2005 that he was able to finish in the top ten for the first time in Windischgarsten as tenth in the pursuit. Between 2005 and 2008 he competed in four Junior World Championships. The best results were a seventh and an eighth place in the singles in the title fights 2006 in Presque Isle and 2007 in Martell . In 2006 he ran several single-digit ranks in the Junior European Cup. In 2007 Anew was able to achieve first podium positions as third in the sprint and second in the pursuit of Haute-Maurienne . In Bansko he also won the title of European Junior Champion in singles and silver in the pursuit behind Dominik Landertinger , after missing a medal in fourth in the sprint. A fifth place with the relay completed the good result. The following year, he won silver in the singles in Nové Město na Moravě behind Anton Schipulin and bronze behind Schipulin and Landertinger. In addition, there are two titles at the Junior World Championships in the summer biathlon of 2007 in Otepää in the sprint and in the pursuit of the roller-ski competitions. In 2008, after finishing fourth in the sprint, he won the bronze medal in the pursuit.

In the adult field, Anew made his debut in Östersund in 2006 at the start of the 2006/07 season in the Biathlon World Cup . In the individual he was 81st, in the sprint 68th. Previous career highlight was participation in the Biathlon World Championships 2008 in Östersund. As 38th in the individual, he achieved an unexpectedly good result and won his first World Cup points. The Bulgarian was also able to qualify for the pursuit in 56th place in the sprint, where he was able to improve to 51st place. In 2009 in Pokljuka he finished 25th in the sprint, his best ever World Cup placement. At the Biathlon World Championships in Pyeongchang in 2009 , the Bulgarian finished 36th in individual and sprint, was 45th in the pursuit and eleventh in the relay competition. Anew took part in the 2010 Olympic Winter Games and was able to confirm his best placings with 25th place in the individual and sprint. In the pursuit he fell back to 45th place, with the relay he ran to 16th place. In the overall standings he ended his best season to date with five results in the points ranks on a 67th place. At the start of the 2010/11 season , Anew was able to improve his best result in a World Cup individual race by finishing 18th in an individual race in Östersund and was among the top 20 for the first time. At the start of the 2012/13 season he again reached the top 10 in the World Cup for the first time in the Östersund singles with eighth place.
