Hans Rolli

Hans Rolli (born March 3, 1903 in Karlsruhe , † August 1, 1982 in Heidelberg ) was a German architect and bell expert .

Life

Hans Rolli studied from 1926 to 1930 at the Technical University of Karlsruhe . He then completed the preparatory service for the higher civil engineering administration service and passed the state examination in 1933. Then he worked for the Baden building administration. In 1943 he was drafted for military service in World War II and was a prisoner of war until 1946. After his release, he went to the Archbishopric Heidelberg of the Archdiocese of Freiburg . In 1948 he was appointed head of the Mannheim branch and in 1955 he became director of the building authority in Heidelberg. In 1972 Rolli retired, but continued to work as a bell expert.

In 1977 he became Commander of the Order of the Holy Pope Silvester .

Rolli's architecture was characterized by the fairness of materials and workmanship. He combined traditional approaches with modern, puristic architecture. His works include: Reconstruction of St. Stephan city church in Karlsruhe 1951, Gut-Hirten-Kirche in Mannheim-Schönau 1953, Clinic Church in Freiburg with Horst Linde 1954, St. Pius Church in Mannheim-Neuostheim 1956, St. Peter extension -and-Paul-Kirche in Mannheim-Feudenheim 1956, reconstruction of the university church in Freiburg with Horst Linde 1957, extension of the city church in Buchen 1958, St. Martin's church in Karlsruhe-Rintheim 1959, reconstruction of the Jesuit church in Mannheim 1960, St.-Antonius- Church in Mannheim-Rheinau with Heinz Heß 1960.
