Dimitar Gerdschikow made his international debut as part of the Biathlon Junior World Championships 2008 in Ruhpolding , where he was 91st of the individual. Between 2010 and 2013 he took part in four other Biathlon Junior World Championships . In 2010 he achieved his best results in Torsby with eighth in the sprint and nine in the pursuit. In 2011 Gerdschikow was able to achieve good results in Nové Město na Moravě as ninth in the sprint and 15th in the pursuit. The best result at the Junior European Championships , at which the Bulgarian also started four times in a row between 2010 and 2013, was a seventh place in the pursuit race after a 17th place in the sprint at the home European Championship 2013 in Bansko . With Nija Dimitrova , Dessislawa Stojanowa and Anton Sinapow , he also just missed winning a medal as the final runner in the mixed relay race, finishing fourth. They were by far the best results. Gerdschikow achieved his greatest successes to date at the junior races of the Summer Biathlon World Championships 2013 in Forni Avoltri . In the sprint he won the bronze medal behind Tomáš Vojík and Dino Butković , in the pursuit race he only had to admit defeat Vojik.
Already in 2009 Gerdschikow debuted at the men in the IBU Cup . In his first race in his home town of Bansko, he reached 13th place in the sprint race. It should remain the best result in the second highest racing series to this day. In Oberhof , he contested his first race in the Biathlon World Cup in 2014 and finished this sprint race 80th. Some time later, he missed the pursuit race by six places in Kontiolahti, 66th . The 2014 European Biathlon Championships in Nové Město na Moravě were the first international championship in the performance area . Gerdschikow was 50th of the sprint, 51st of the pursuit and with Wassil Chorbadschiew , Miroslaw Kenanow and Ivan Slatew seventh of the relay competition.
