Pyotr Anatolyevich Ivashka ( Belarusian Пётр Анатольевіч Івашка , Russian Пётр Анатольевич Ивашко transcription: Pyotr Anatolyevich Ivashko * 25. August 1971 in Sjanno , Vitebsk Region ) is a former Belarusian biathlete . He became world champion three times in the second half of the 1990s.

Pyotr Iwaschka lives in Minsk and trained in his native Sjanno. The soldier started for the Army Sports Club in Minsk (CSKA). In 1984 he started biathlon. The Belarusian made his international debut at the start of the 1993/94 season in Bad Gastein , where he was 63rd of the individual. At the next World Cup station in Pokljuka , he won his first World Cup points as the 24th of an individual. Iwaschka achieved a first outstanding success at the Biathlon World Championships in Ruhpolding in 1996 , when he won the title in the team competition with Oleg Ryschenkow , Alexander Popow and Wadim Saschurin . In the same composition, the Belarusian team repeated this title win in 1997 in Osrblie . In the season between the two World Championships , he reached fourth on the side of Oleksij Ajdarow , Alexei Morschakin and Ryschenkow almost a podium in the World Cup. Shortly after the World Championships, Iwaschka ran 12th of an individual in Novosibirsk on his best individual result in the World Cup. The highlight of 1998 was his participation in the Summer Biathlon World Championships , where he narrowly missed a medal with Ajdarow, Ryschenkow and Saschurin in fourth place. In 1999 Iwaschka started again at a World Cup. These were initially held in Kontiolahti in accordance with the award , but some competitions had to be relocated to Oslo on the Holmenkollen due to the weather . In Finland he was 15th in the sprint and 22nd in the pursuit. In the relay race he won the gold medal with Ajdarow, Saschurin and Ryschenkow in the relay race. In the individual held in Oslo, he reached 57th place. In Oslo the following year, World Championship races were held again, in which the Belarusian was 40th in the sprint, 41st in the pursuit race and did not finish the race in the individual. The last international championship was the 2001 European biathlon championships in Haute-Maurienne . After missing a top ten position as 13th of the sprint, he achieved it as tenth in the pursuit race as well as ninth in the individual. In the relay race he came on the side of Sjarhej Nowikau , Rustam Waliullin and Iwan Pesterew on the fifth place. After almost a year out of the World Cup, Iwaschka returned to Ruhpolding in 2001 for a sprint race. He ended his career with an 84th place.
