Valentin Nikolajewitsch Pschenizyn ( Russian Валентин Николаевич Пшеницын ; born November 3, 1936 in Dmitrov , Moscow Oblast , Russian SFSR , USSR ) is a former Soviet biathlete .

Valentin Pschenizyn from VS Moskva was one of the pioneers of the sport on an international level. He started at the first biathlon world championship in 1958 in Saalfelden , finished 7th in the individual and came second with Viktor Butakow , Dmitri Sokolow and Alexander Gubin in the still unofficial relay competition behind the representation from Sweden. A year later in Courmayeur , he won the relay competition with Vladimir Melanin and Sokolow, which was still unofficial that year. The next major event was the 1960 Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley , where biathlon was first held. In the only race, the individual, Pschenitsyn came in fifth. The Soviet athlete came even closer to an individual medal at the 1961 Biathlon World Championship in Umeå , where he finished fourth. With Alexander Priwalow and again Sokolow he finished second in the unofficial relay competition. The only individual medal won Pschenizyn at the Biathlon World Championships in 1962 in Hämeenlinna , where he was third in the individual behind Melanin and Antti Tyrväinen . With Melanin and Nikolai Pusanow he managed to win again in the unofficial relay competition. In 1963 Pschenizyn took part in his fifth and final biathlon world championships in Seefeld in Tyrol . In the individual he reached the 7th place, in the unofficial relay competition he was winner with Melanin and Nikolai Mescharjakow . The last major event was the 1964 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck , where he again achieved 7th place in the individual.
