Alexander Andrejewitsch Uschakow ( Russian Александр Андреевич Ушаков , born June 18, 1948 in Smirnowo , Udmurt ASSR , Soviet Union ) is a former Soviet biathlete .

Alexander Ushakov won the gold medal at the Junior World Championships in Zakopane in 1969 , ahead of Andrzej Rapacz and Vyacheslav Tolkachev . He contested his first adult world championships in 1970 in Östersund and won the gold medal in the relay race alongside Alexander Tichonow , Viktor Mamatow and Rinnat Safin . A year later he was ninth of the individual in Hämeenlinna , 1973 in Lake Placid 16th of the individual. In 1974 he won the gold medal with the relay for the second time at the side of Alexander Tichonow, Yuri Kolmakow and Nikolai Kruglow in Minsk and in the sprint 14. 1975 missed the Soviet relay in Antholz with Ushakov, Alexander Yelisarow , Alexander Tichonow and Nikolai Kruglow for the first time the title since 1976 and was only second behind Finland. He also achieved ninth place in both the sprint and the individual. 1977 Ushakow could beat with Jelisarow, Kruglow and Tichonow Finland in Vingrom again and win the gold medal in the relay race. He also won his first and only individual medal behind Tichonow and Kruglow with the bronze medal in the sprint race and was also tenth in the individual. At his last world championships in 1978 in Hochfilzen , Uschakow missed a medal with Tichonow, Kruglow and Wladimir Barnaschow in fourth place in the relay race for the first time since 1966 , when the relay race was officially held in Garmisch-Partenkirchen for the first time. In the sprint he was 18th and in the individual ranked 20th. In the premiere season of the Biathlon World Cup in 1978 in Antholz, he finished second in the individual and with the relay, the first World Cup victory of his career was achieved with the relay (Barnaschow, Uschakow , Kruglow, Aljabjew ) in March in Murmansk. Ushakov was nominated three times for the Olympic Games , but he was not used in 1972, 1976 or 1980.

At the end of his career he secured his last titles in the USSR championships in sprint and in the military patrol in 1980, he was also runner-up in individual in 1970, the relay in 1974, 1977 and 1980 and in 1978 in patrol. There were also two bronze medals in the 1971 and 1978 seasons, and according to another source, three other titles. After his sports career, he took a position at the Leningrad Space Academy ( Военно-космическая академия имени А. Ф. Можайского ) as a sports instructor , later he coached the Saint Petersburg women's biathlon team .
