Andrzej Rapacz (born September 1, 1948 in Zakopane ) is a former Polish biathlete .

Career

Andrzej Rapacz started for WKS Legia Zakopane and was trained by Stanisław Zięba . He won at the Junior World Championships in 1967 in Altenberg with the relay of Poland, which also included Jozef Gasienica and Andrzey Fiedor, in front of the representations from Finland and the GDR, the title at the first competition. In 1969 he won another medal with the relay in Zakopane, now like behind Alexandr Uszakov in the individual, silver. From 1970 Rapacz started with the men and was at the Biathlon World Championships in 1970 in Östersund 16th in the singles and sixth with the relay. Together with Józef Różak , Aleksander Klima and Józef Stopka , he won the bronze medal at the Biathlon World Championships in 1971 in Hämeenlinna behind the relays from the Soviet Union and Norway and was 18th in the individual. At his first Olympic Winter Games in 1972 he finished 33rd in the sprint and was seventh in the relay competition with Rózak, Klima and Stopka. The Pole took part in his third World Cup in Minsk in 1974 , where he was 19th in the individual, 23rd in the sprint and eleventh in relay. In 1975 in Antholz the ranks 23 in the individual and 15 in the sprint were added, with the relay he won again World Cup bronze with Jan Szpunar , Ludwik Zięba and Wojciech Truchan behind Finland and the Soviet Union . Until Tomasz Sikora's successes in the 1990s and 2000s, Rapacz was the last Polish double medalist in biathlon. The 1976 World Cup , where only the non-Olympic sprint was held, was held in Antholz, Rapacz was 13th. Before that, he reached 46th place in the individual at the Olympic Games and 12th place in the relay race with Szpunar, Zięba and Truchan. Rapacz last competed internationally at the 1979 World Cup , where he achieved 15 individual results and nine relay results. Nationally, Rapacz won the individual titles in 1969, 1970 and 1975 to 1977, and in the sprint from 1974 to 1979.
