Vladimir Michailowitsch Barnaschow
Vladimir Mikhailovich Barnaschow ( Russian Владимир Михайлович Барнашов ; born February 26, 1951 in Ryazany, Omsk Oblast , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is a former Russian biathlete who competed for the Soviet Union.
Barnashov was a member of the Soviet biathlon team from 1977 and won the gold medal with the Soviet relay at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid . He achieved bronze medals with the Soviet team at the Biathlon World Championships in 1979, 1981 and 1982. In the individual, his greatest success was third place at the World Championships in 1978/1979 behind Klaus Siebert and Frank Ullrich . He later became the national team coach, holding the post from 1984 to 1992.
