The 35th Biathlon World Championships were held from 19th bis 27. February 2000 in the Norwegian Oslo ( Holmenkollen instead).

The last decision of the World Championships, the men's relay, had to be canceled in the middle of the competition, as the athletes could no longer see the windows in the increasingly thick fog. The race was on 11. March 2000 as part of the World Cup in the Finnish Lahti made up.

After the race, the racing jury found that the winner Frode Andresen had already inserted his magazine into the weapon at the start, which for safety reasons is actually only allowed at the shooting range immediately before shooting. However, the racing jury decided that Andresen could keep his title. Shortly after the decision, Andresen voluntarily returned his gold medal. The World Cup rating, however, remained unchanged.
