Anna Murínová

Anna Murínová (born November 14, 1973 in Brezno ) is a former Slovak biathlete .

Anna Murínová, who started sports for KB Osrblie , has been practicing biathlon since 1987. In 1993 she made her debut as 25th in an individual in Bad Gastein in the Biathlon World Cup and won her first World Cup point. In 1995 she started her first biathlon world championships in Antholz . The best result was a fourth place with the relay, which she achieved with Martina Halinárová , Erika Lehotska and Soňa Mihoková . She also achieved her next outstanding result at world championships. In 1996 she was sixth in the Ruhpolding team competition . From the 1997/98 to 2004/05 seasons she was able to collect World Cup points eight times in a row. In Osrblie Murínová had in 1997 again good results with the season as seventh and fourth in the team competition. Also at the 1998 Olympic Games in Nagano , she again achieved a very good fourth place with the relay and thus narrowly missed a medal. But even in the sprint, she achieved her first place in the top 10 with a ninth place.

In the World Cup, Murínová achieved a top ten result for the first time in 2000 in Ruhpolding, finishing sixth in the sprint. The best result of the season, in which she was able to get into the points 21 times and at the end of the 17th place overall, was a fifth place in the Östersund sprint . The European championships of the year were also very positive for the Slovak. In Zakopane she won relay gold. Her next good World Cup result came in 2001 when she was tenth in the Pokljuka singles . Nevertheless, Murínová usually achieved their best results in the seasons at major events. This was also the case at their second Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City in 2002 . Here the Slovak relay took fifth place. Murínová achieved her best individual result in 2004 in an individual in Antholz as third place. In the summer of the year she also competed at the World Championships in Summer Biathlon in Osrblie and won the relay bronze. A year later, the Slovakian achieved her last good results at a major event at the 2005 World Championships in Hochfilzen as 25th in the individual and sixth in the relay. Her ninth world championship should be her last. The last major event was the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin , where the now aging relay team was only able to convince to a limited extent as tenth place.
