Marinus Bester (born January 16, 1969 in Hamburg ) is a former German football player and today's functionary and trainer .

Career

Marinus Bester began his career at Werder Bremen , but did not get beyond the role of a supplementary player and was loaned to Hamburger SV and then FC Schalke 04 before moving to the Regionalliga Nord . After a successful season at Lüneburger SK , Bester returned to Hamburger SV in 2000 and in 2002 made a decisive contribution to promotion to the regional league. In 2003 Bester ended his career and became team manager at Hamburger SV.

Marinus Bester experienced the greatest successes of his career largely on the bench. When he won the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1992 and the DFB Cup victories in 1991 and 1994, he was substituted on at half time.

Best played a total of 52 Bundesliga games and scored five goals.

After the end of his active football career, Marinus Bester joined the amateur club SG Scharmbeck-Pattensen , where he worked as a youth coach. Until 2013 he looked after the U-19s of the club. For the 2013/14 season he took over the 1st men's team of the district division. Furthermore, Marinus Bester was elected in November 2013 as the new head of the football department of the district league club TSV Eintracht Hittfeld . From October 2015 until the end of 2017, Bester trained the men's team at VfL Maschen .

He also acted as team coordinator at Hamburger SV from 2003. For the 2018/19 season, he was also assistant coach of the professional team in the coaching team around head coach Christian Titz . After almost twenty years in various functions, Bester left the Hanseatic League at the end of January 2019.

At the top division TSV Buchholz 08 he took over the coaching position in the summer of 2019, but the premature separation took place in November 2019.
