The VfL Maschen from 1911 e. V. is a sports club in the Lower Saxon town of Maschen , a district of the Seevetal community in the Harburg district .
history
The men's gymnastics club Maschen , MTV Maschen for short , was founded on July 16, 1911. Women have been doing gymnastics in the club since the early 1920s. In 1952 the association was transformed into Verein für Leibesübungen Maschen von 1911 e. V. renamed. In 1954, VfL leased today's sports grounds on the autobahn and built a. a. a changing house. After the construction of a new school with a sports hall and a swimming pool in 1966, various new sports could be offered and the number of members quintupled to over 1000 by 1970. In the 1970s and 80s, the range of sports facilities was expanded to include a sports hall and three tennis courts , a soccer field and a beach volleyball facility. In 1986 the number of members was at a record 2100 members. In 1993 the sports area was sold to the community. New categories such as basketball or dancing were added to the program. The name of the August-Erdmann-Platz soccer field was sold to sponsor Rudolf Sievers in 2007 and renamed the Rudolf Sievers Arena .

Soccer
The soccer department of VfL Maschen is one of the largest and most successful in the district. The greatest success in the club's history was winning the championship in the state league in 2005 and the associated promotion to the Oberliga Niedersachsen Ost , the fourth-highest division at the time. After four years in the league - the best result was sixth place in the 2007/08 season - at the end of the 2008/09 season, relegation to the Lüneburg regional league followed. This was followed by two more relegations, so that VfL has been competing in the Harburg district league since 2011 .
In addition to the first team, VfL also has a second men's team, a senior team and, since 2010, a women's team. There are also 18 youth teams in all age groups.
badminton
The badminton department was founded in 1981. In 1990 she merged with the badminton department of the neighboring club TSV Eintracht Hittfeld to form SG Maschen-Hittfeld . By 1997 the 1st team rose to the regional league, the 2nd and 3rd teams played in the regional and regional leagues. In 2000 the first team was relegated to the league, but in the following years things went up again. In 2006 he was promoted to the 2nd Badminton Bundesliga and in 2008 he was runner-up.
In the adult class, 2 German runner-up titles , 10 North German championship titles , 9 North German runner-up titles , 35 Lower Saxony state championship titles, 63 district championship titles , 7 district championship titles, 2 German rankings wins, 21 Lower Saxony state rankings wins and 7 district rankings wins were won. The juniors won u. a. two North German championships and a German ranking victory. At the German Senior Championships , Kristine Anschütz and Stephan Burmeister achieved places among the top three in the O35 age group several times between 2006 and 2010.

VfL Maschen also offers martial arts , swimming , dance , tennis , table tennis , gymnastics and volleyball, as well as a cardiac sports group.
