The FC Süderelbe (full name: Fußballclub Süderelbe von 1949 eV ) is a soccer club from the Hamburg district of Neugraben-Fischbek in the Harburg district . The first team was promoted to the fifth-class Hamburg league in 2014 .

history

The FC Süderelbe was founded in 1949 when the football department of TV Fischbek split off from the parent club. For decades, the FCS was only active at the district league or district league level. The sporting upsurge began in the 1970s when Fred Asmußen took over the chairmanship in 1975. Two years later, Bernd Enge came to FCS, who worked in the following years as a coach, manager and president of the club. In 1980 the team was promoted to the national league . After a third place in 1983, two years later he was promoted to the then fourth-class Association League Hamburg .

Four years later, FC Süderelbe secured the runner-up in the association league behind the amateurs of Hamburger SV . This qualified the team for the promotion round to the Oberliga Nord , where the FCS was able to win both games against Kickers Emden . Ultimately, the South Hamburgers came third. In October 1989, Bernd Enge announced his retirement at the end of the season. The team was again runner-up in the association league, this time behind VfL Stade . Before the start of the promotion round, however, almost all regular players had already signed contracts for the coming season with other clubs.

Despite this turbulence, the Süderelber had realistic chances of promotion after a surprising 2-1 win at VfB Lübeck . However, these were gambled away on the last matchday with a 3: 3 against TuS Celle . This was followed by a rapid crash. In 1991 the FCS was relegated to the regional league and was promptly passed on to the regional league. A third relegation in a row could only be prevented with difficulty. In the mid-1990s, the football department of the Hausbruch-Neugrabener gymnastics club joined the FCS, which again focused more on its own offspring. In 1999 he returned to the national league.

Three years later, the FCS missed promotion to the association league after a 1: 4 defeat in the playoff against TSV Wandsetal . Finally, in 2005, the second promotion to the association league succeeded, which, however, was followed by direct relegation. Several years followed in the mediocrity of the national league before the team became runner-up behind Buxtehuder SV in 2014 . After the league club Oststeinbeker SV withdrew its team to the district league, FC Süderelbe was allowed to move up to the league.
