history

The Niendorfer TSV is a sports club with a long tradition, which emerged from an educational club with the subdivisions of games, hiking and sports. The youth association was founded on July 13, 1919 from the educational association and the gymnastics teacher Carl Ohl became its first chairman. A little later the club got its current name. Already in 1922, almost every 10th Niendorf member was a member of the association, which at that time had 244 members.

In 1933 the club chairman became the club leader. Military sport was introduced; Votes were replaced by dictations, National Socialism had made its way into the country. For many years the Niendorfer Turn- und Sportverein was purely a gymnastics club, a handball and soccer department was not established until 1936/37, later fistball and table tennis were added. In 1947 the first general meeting took place after the Second World War and a foundation festival. The number of members rose to 737.

It was not until 1956 that the athletics department came into being, and new sports followed, so to speak, in quick succession. The Niendorfer TSV developed into a popular sports club. In 1962, the number of members exceeded the 1,000 mark.

As of December 31, 2019, the association had 8,409 members, making it one of the four largest in Hamburg. Members can choose from 45 different sports and leisure activities.
