Daniel Brückner (born February 14, 1981 in Rostock ) is a German soccer player with Algerian roots who has been under contract with Niendorfer TSV since the end of July 2018 .

Career

Daniel Brückner was born in Rostock. When he was four years old, his family went to his father's homeland in Algeria for a year and settled in Hamburg a year later. There he also came to football at a local club.

Troubled youth followed. He was thrown from school, from the club, fell out with his mother and ended up living with his sister for a while. It only got better again through football. He came to Hamburg-Eimsbütteler BC , where he played until 2004. Then coach Thomas Wolter , who had also grown up at Eimsbüttel , brought him to the amateurs of Werder Bremen , where he was immediately a regular. This was followed by two regional league years with the Hanseatic city and two more years with league rivals FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt .

After the expiry of his contract with Erfurt, who were able to qualify for the newly created 3rd division , Daniel Brückner first signed a contract with the second division relegated SC Paderborn 07 , but then received an offer from the second division SpVgg Greuther Fürth . After the disputes about an exit clause with the Paderborn team had been resolved, he switched to the Franks , where he received a contract that was valid until 2011. However, Brückner returned to Paderborn during the winter break of the 2008/09 season, as he was only used seven times in Fürth in the first half of the season and he was hoping for more appearances in the cathedral city. In Paderborn Brückner trained again under Pawel Dotschew , under whom he already played in Erfurt.

After a successful 2009/10 season , which ended SC Paderborn 07 in fifth place in the table, Brückner was not only nominated by the specialist magazine “Kicker” for the Eleven of the Year, but also voted Player of the Season by the Paderborn fans by telephone. In the 2013/14 season he played 21 second division games and thus had a share in his club's first promotion to the 2014 Bundesliga , in which he played on August 24, 2014 (1st matchday), in a 2-2 home game against 1. FSV Mainz 05 , made its debut.

After the 18th matchday of the 2015/16 season , Brückner was suspended by coach Stefan Effenberg together with Srđan Lakić and Mahir Sağlık . On January 27, 2016, he terminated his contract and two days later returned to the third division club FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt , with whom he received a contract until June 30, 2017.
