Alexander Laas (born May 5, 1984 in Hamburg ) is a former German soccer player and today's entrepreneur . He mostly played in left midfield .

Career

As a youth player, Laas moved from his youth club Niendorfer TSV to Hamburger SV . He had a few short appearances and a UEFA Cup appearance in the first team of HSV, but mostly he played in the second team in the regional league . He played his first Bundesliga game in the 2004/05 season against Hansa Rostock .

Laas became known to the general public on December 3, 2005 in the home game against 1. FC Köln . While celebrating a goal by his teammate, he was hit by a drumstick thrown by a Cologne fan and fell bleeding to the ground. His team captain, Daniel Van Buyten , carried him into the middle of the field so that he could receive medical attention. Supporters of 1. FC Köln continued to throw objects.

He made his first Bundesliga appearance in the starting eleven on September 30, 2006 against Eintracht Frankfurt. He gave one assist. In the 2006/07 season he made 21 Bundesliga appearances. On February 3, 2007, he scored his first Bundesliga goal in the game at Hertha BSC .

On July 23, 2007, he moved to VfL Wolfsburg , because he did not expect much of a regular place at HSV. There he only came to four short appearances in the 2007/08 season. Shortly before the end of the 2008 summer transfer period, Laas was loaned to Arminia Bielefeld until the end of the 2008/09 season. For the 2009/10 season he returned to VfL Wolfsburg, but was transferred to the second team by coach Armin Veh . There he only came to five short assignments and received no new contract at the end of the season. He then moved to RB Leipzig for the 2010/11 season , where he received a two-year contract until June 30, 2012. In 2012 he moved to the club's second team. He left them in 2013 and has been playing in the Oberliga Hamburg again since the beginning of 2014 for his home club Niendorfer TSV, with which he received a contract until June 2017.

Personal

Laas graduated from high school in 2004, like some other HSV young players, at the Heidberg high school in Hamburg-Langenhorn . In the spring of 2014 he announced that he would start training as a banker in September . Since June 2014 he has been managing director of the Rewe Center on Dorotheenstrasse in the Hamburg district of Winterhude, together with the former football coach Holger Stanislawski .
