Holger "Stani" Stanislawski (born September 26, 1969 in Hamburg ) is a former German soccer player and coach and current entrepreneur .

Player career

Holger Stanislawski started playing football at the age of eight at Bramfelder SV . With Hamburger SV he was A youth champion in the Regionalliga Nord. In 1992 he moved from Barsbütteler SV to SC Concordia from 1907 and was with the team champion in the Association League Hamburg .

From July 1993 Stanislawski played in 260 competitive games (including 79 first division appearances ) for FC St. Pauli in the position of Libero . In the 2001/02 Bundesliga season he was one of the “World Cup winners” in the legendary 2-1 home win against FC Bayern Munich . Due to a torn ligament in his right knee on August 9, 2003 and an associated protracted inflammation , the team captain had to end his professional career. His last brief assignment was on May 30, 2004 in the game against KFC Uerdingen 05 .

Coaching career

FC St. Pauli

On November 20, 2006, Stanislawski and his assistant trainer André Trulsen took over provisional management of the training after head trainer Andreas Bergmann was on leave . Initially, he retained his role as the club's sports director. Stanislawski and Trulsen were soon confirmed as coaching team until the end of the 2006/07 season and immediately made it to the 2nd Bundesliga . Thereupon Stanislawski extended his contract as head coach by two years until June 30, 2009. Since he did not have the license required for German professional football , the German Football League refused his recognition as a club coach. Therefore, the former assistant coach André Trulsen was appointed head coach for the 2007/08 season , Stanislawski took over the role of team boss. In the course of the season Stanislawski took the courses necessary for the B and A license of a DFB coach. In addition, he still held the position of sporting director until Helmut Schulte took over on March 1, 2008.

For the 2008/09 season Stanislawski was officially head coach of FC St. Pauli and Trulsen again assistant coach. In parallel to the ongoing league operation, Stanislawski completed the eleven-month football teacher course in Cologne and graduated as the best in his year. In the 2009/10 season, “Stani” and his team made it to the 1st Bundesliga. In the following 2010/11 season, however, the club rose again directly under his leadership. Stanislawski announced on April 13, 2011 that he would be leaving FC St. Pauli at the end of the season.

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim

In July 2011 he became head coach at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim . On February 9, 2012, Stanislawski and the club separated. With him, his assistant coaches André Trulsen and Klaus-Peter Nemet also left Hoffenheim.

1. FC Cologne

For the 2012/13 season Stanislawski was the coach of 1. FC Cologne , who was relegated to the 2. Bundesliga. Trulsen and Nemet were also signed as his assistant coaches. On May 18, 2013, one day before the end of the season, 1. FC Köln announced that Stanislawski's request for the immediate termination of his contract had been granted. Stanislawski cited the reason that he had just not achieved the goal he had set himself in relation to a promotion or relegation place with fifth place.

Personal

The trained masseur Stanislawski retrained to become a sports manager after the end of his active playing career and obtained a higher degree in business administration with a sports specialist . Afterwards he was responsible for the sporting area as manager and vice-president of FC St. Pauli. In June 2014, he took over the management of a Rewe store in the Hamburg district of Winterhude together with the former HSV player Alexander Laas . However, Stanislavski did not rule out returning to professional football as a coach.

Stanislawski has been working as a football expert for the ZDF sports report since August 2015 . He also performed in this role at the 2016 European Championship , the 2017 Confed Cup and the 2018 World Cup .
