Andreas Bergmann (born June 18, 1959 in Steinfeld ) is a German soccer coach and former player. He has been the head coach of Altona 93 since June 1, 2020 .

Player career

Bergmann played from 1982 to 1989 in the highest German amateur class, the North Rhine Football League , for the clubs 1. FC Cologne , Wuppertaler SV , Bonner SC and VfB Remscheid .

Coaching career

Bergmann is a qualified sports and soccer teacher. From 1989 to 1994 he worked as a sports teacher at SV Falke Steinfeld and from 1994 to 1997 at the Lower Saxony Football Association. From 1997 to 2001 he was youth coordinator at Karlsruher SC . From 2001 to 2004 Bergmann was responsible youth coordinator and coach of the amateur team of FC St. Pauli . On March 29, 2004 he took over the professional team at this club from the dismissed Franz Gerber . After he had four games in a row in the Regionalliga Nord without a win, he was released from his duties on November 20, 2006.

On July 1, 2007, Bergmann took over the U23 team from Hannover 96 , and at the same time became the sporting director of the youth training center. After Dieter Hecking's resignation on August 19, 2009, he temporarily took over the first team. On August 30, 2009 he became head coach at Hannover 96, he was given a one-year contract. On January 19, 2010 he was on leave after 16 match days. For the 2010/11 season Bergmann took over the training of the U23 team again.

In September 2011, Bergmann succeeded the dismissed Friedhelm Funkel as head coach of VfL Bochum . He led the team in 11th place in the 2011/12 final table . After seven competitive games without a win in the 2012/13 season of the 2nd Bundesliga , he was on leave on October 28, 2012, one day after a 6-1 away defeat at FC Erzgebirge Aue .

On May 30, 2013 Bergmann became the new coach at FC Hansa Rostock . However, the 2013/2014 season was changeable for Rostock. Again and again there were series of defeats, the team was only rarely able to meet the demands. After a 1: 2 defeat against 1. FC Neubrandenburg in the state cup , Bergmann and his assistant coach were dismissed.

On June 1, 2020, he took over the position of head coach at the Hamburg regional list Altona 93 as the successor to the released Berkan Algan . At this time, the season was in a season break due to the COVID-19 pandemic .
