Berkan Algan (born March 29, 1977 in Hamburg ) is a German-Turkish soccer player and coach .

youth

Algan grew up in Hamburg and played for FC St. Pauli and Hamburger SV in his youth. In 1997 he was appointed by the DFB in the U21 team under Hannes Löhr and took part in a total of three games. In 1998 he was also appointed to the U21s of the Turkish Football Association.

Senior area

Algan changed clubs very often and played for most of his career at league clubs in and around Hamburg. During his time with the Finnish Haka Valkeakoski , he also played twice in the 2001 UEFA Cup when he was substituted on for 1. FC Union Berlin .

Trainer

Algan was player-coach at Wedeler TSV, assistant coach at SV Halstenbek-Rellingen and then assistant coach at Germania Schnelsen and player coach at FC Bergedorf 85. Then player and assistant coach and subsequently coach at SV Lurup. From August 27, 2015 to May 2020, he was coach at Altona 93. He led the team twice to promotion to the Regionalliga Nord, winning the championship title in the Hamburg Oberliga in the 2018/19 game year was classified as steeped in history, because it meant Altona's time without Championship win came to an end after 69 years. In 2019 Algan , who works full-time as an innkeeper , was named Hamburg's Trainer of the Year.
