On the last day of the match, SV Darmstadt 98 had the worst starting position for relegation, which they could no longer achieve with the 2-0 draw in Munich against FC Bayern Munich II . TSV 1860 Munich II won 8: 3 in Kassel, and Karlsruher SC II played against Reutlingen 1: 1, which meant that the last relegated team between the relegated last second division season, 1. FC Saarbrücken and Sportfreunde Siegen , was sought . Saarbrücken was back with 0: 2 against VfB Stuttgart II early on, could not turn it around and lost with 0: 2. So you had to look to Leverkusen, where the game Kaiserslautern against Siegen took place for safety reasons. Up to the 62nd minute it was 0-0, which would have relegated victories, but Blessin (62nd) and Whitsun (78th) saved their club from relegation. Thus, 1. FC Saarbrücken was passed from the 2. Bundesliga to the upper league.
