The 2015/16 season of the Regionalliga was the eighth season of the Regional Football League as the fourth-highest division in Germany.

Regional leagues

• Regionalliga Bayern 2015/16 with 18 teams from the Bavarian Football Association (BFV)
• Regionalliga Nord 2015/16 with 18 teams from the North German Football Association (NFV)
• Regionalliga Nordost 2015/16 with 18 teams from the Northeast German Football Association (NOFV)
• Regionalliga Südwest 2015/16 with 18 teams from the Football Regional Association Southwest and the South German Football Association (SFV) with the exception of the Bavarian Football Association
• Regionalliga West 2015/16 with 19 teams from the West German Football and Athletics Association (WFLV)

Promotion Games

The champions of the five regional leagues and the runner-up of the Regionalliga Südwest took part in the promotion games to the 3rd division . The winners of the three drawn promotion games with a return leg rose. A meeting between the two qualifiers of the Regionalliga Südwest was not possible.

If teams do not participate, or if no team from a regional league qualifies athletically, byes will be awarded.

The following teams qualified for the promotion games:

• Champion of the Regionalliga Bayern: SSV Jahn Regensburg
• Champion of the Regionalliga Nord: VfL Wolfsburg II
• Champion of the Regionalliga Nordost: FSV Zwickau
• Champion of the Regionalliga Südwest: SV Waldhof Mannheim
• Vice champion of the Regionalliga Südwest: SV Elversberg
• Champion of the Regionalliga West: Sportfreunde Lotte

The draw took place on April 3, 2016 after the regional league match between TSV Buchbach and SSV Jahn Regensburg live on Sport1 . The first leg took place on May 25 and the second leg on May 29.
