The 2015/16 season of the Bayernliga was the 71st season of the Bayernliga soccer league and the eighth highest division in Germany. With the entry into force of the division reform for the 2012/13 season, the Bayern League formed the substructure of the newly introduced Bavarian Regional League .

Promotion and relegation regulation

• Promotion to the Regionalliga Bayern

The champions of both seasons are athletically qualified for promotion to the Regionalliga Bayern . The second placed contest a relegation round with the 15th and 16th of the Regionalliga Bayern for at least one starting place in the Regionalliga.

• Relegation from the Bayern League

The last placed in each season are relegated to the national leagues . The 15th, 16th and 17th of the two seasons as well as the 14th of the two seasons with the poorer point quotient play with the five runners-up of the regional leagues in a relegation round at least three further starting places in the Bavarian League. After the end of the season, the state association decided to prevent a season thinning next season by increasing promotion to the regional league this season to take the club with the worse point quotient from the relegation, which means the direct relegation of both table fourths.

• Promotion to the Bayern League

The champions of the five national league seasons Northwest, Northeast, Middle, Southwest and Southeast are promoted directly to the Bayernliga. The five runners-up in the national leagues play in a relegation round with the 15th, 16th and 17th of the two Bayernliga seasons and the poorer-placed 14th of the two seasons at least three more places in the Bayernliga.

The game committee of the Bavarian Football Association announced the relay division on June 15, 2015. With the exception of VfB Eichstätt, which will be regrouped from the South to the North, all last year's Bayern league teams will remain in their previous season. The four relegated from the Regional League Bavaria and the eight promoted from the Landesliga Bayern were each divided equally between the two seasons.

Relegation round to the Bayern League

In the relegation round to the Bayernliga, the five runners-up in the regional league, as well as the table-17., Table-16. and Tables-15. of the two Bayernliga relays, three participants in the Bayernliga in the following season in three regional groups. However, VfL Frohnlach received a bye after SV Erlenbach am Main did not have to compete for relegation.

National promotion games

The fact that Regensburg was promoted to the 3rd division and TSV 1860 Rosenheim was promoted to the Regionalliga Bayern in another promotion match against Viktoria Aschaffenburg, a place in the Bayernliga became available. This last place should be played out between the three second-round losers of the relegation (VfL Frohnlach, ASV Burglengenfeld and SV Erlbach) in a third relegation round with the mode of a simple point game round. Due to the voluntary waiver of the ASV Burglengenfeld, the club has been relegated to the state league. VfL Frohnlach and SV Erlbach now determine the last Bayern league team in the first and second leg.
