geology
Different types of rock occur in several layers of altitude. In one still operating and two closed quarries, there is very hard diorite in the Dörrmorsbach district, soft red sandstone in Heigenbrückersequence on the Findberg and gneiss on the Wendelberg. Until the 20th century, Haibach was known for its cuboid natural stones, the so-called Haibacher Grauen or Haibacher Blauen, which were very suitable for exposed masonry. However, for each load of cuboid facing stones, two loads of irregular stones had to be accepted. The area of the municipality of Haibach consists of 22.4% forest, mostly mixed forest and 32.2% agricultural land.
Expansion of the municipal area
The municipal area is divided into "village", new development area and industrial area. The village is the largest part of Haibach and lies in the north. There are mainly older row houses that are no higher than two floors. In the center there is a church and grocery stores.
The Haibach development area, which consists of large, individually standing new buildings, is located on a hill. The industrial area is located on Würzburger Straße / St 2312 (former B 8) in the south of Haibach. This is where the industrial parts of Haibach are located, such as Adler Modemärkte GmbH.
The districts of Grünmorsbach and Dörrmorsbach are in the south of Haibach. Dörrmorsbach is located at the foot of the Pfaffenberg, whose distinctive buildings can be seen in large parts of the Spessart.

history
Until the 18th century
Haibach was first mentioned in a document in 1187. At that time there was a noble seat called Ketzelburg on the outskirts , the remains of which were archaeologically researched between 2004 and 2006 and again in 2014 . The foundation was restored. The new excavations allow the conclusion that iron production in the Rennofen took place here as early as the end of the 12th century in the Spessart.
The original form of the place Haibach was "Haginaha" (= Grenzbach).
Over the course of 500 years, the place name was finally updated over the place names Hegebach , Heybach and Haydebach since 1790.
19th to 21st century
At the time of the Grand Duchy of Frankfurt, Haibach was in the area of the Districtsmairie Schweinheim (the former Kurmainzische Amtsvogtei Schweinheim) in the department of Aschaffenburg and counted 101 fireplaces and 661 inhabitants (souls) with the Dörnhof. Maire, Landzöller and Accisor was Joseph Bahmer. His adjuncts were called Nepomuk Hock and Johann Großmann. The school teacher was Johann Stumpf.
As a result of the Paris Treaty of June 3, 1814, Haibach came to the Kingdom of Bavaria on June 26, 1814 with the Districtsmairie Schweinheim and by order of October 1, 1814 was assigned to the administrative area of the resulting second-class district court Aschaffenburg.
On July 1, 1862, the District Court of Aschaffenburg became the District Office of Aschaffenburg and in 1939, as everywhere in the German Empire, the designation district was introduced. Haibach was now one of the 33 communities in the old district of Aschaffenburg . On July 1, 1972, this merged with the Alzenau district in Lower Franconia to form the new Aschaffenburg district.
In 1937 an SS home was built at the quarry on Wendelberg, a place of work and recreation for SS-Sturmbann III / 83, which also served to train instructors. Today the Wendelberg restaurant is located in the building. The property at Wendelbergstrasse 50 came to the Aschaffenburg city area through an area swap.
Haibach is included in the objectives of the regional plan of Region 1 Bayerischer Untermain in Map 1 "Spatial Structure" as the basic center and is identified there together with Bessenbach as a central multiple location to be achieved according to the Bavarian State Development Program 2018. Haibach is located in the Spessart Nature Park .
Haibach developed from an original farming village into a residential community after the Second World War. Through the settlement of small and medium-sized industrial and craft businesses, the municipality was strengthened in its control power and efficiency.
The construction of a school center with elementary and secondary school in 1965 and the establishment of three kindergartens, which are sponsored by the Catholic Church Administration and the Johannisvereine, are milestones in the area of the expansive development of the community.
In 1974 the community built a new fire station for the volunteer fire brigade's base fire brigade , shortly afterwards in 1977 the sports center with the culture and sports hall and stadium was opened.
The construction of a new elevated water tank on the Buchberg and the construction of a funeral hall in the forest cemetery in 1983 are further prerequisites for the community of Haibach to fulfill its functions as part of the Haibach / Bessenbach basic center.
In May 1983 the youth and club house was opened.
On June 21, 1987, the Rote Zora terrorist group carried out an arson attack on the Adler fashion store located in Haibach .
In 1988/89 the sports hall "Am Hohen Kreuz" was built on Sportfeldstrasse in the immediate vicinity of the school.
On May 3, 2001, the newly built community center was inaugurated in the Dörrmorsbach district.
The symbol of the community are the three crosses at the Bessenbacher Weg playground. They are reminiscent of the legend of the knight Heydebach and his lover.

coat of arms
Blazon : “In silver a red oblique wave bar, covered with a six-spoke silver wheel; accompanied at the top by a green oak rice with two leaves and an acorn, at the bottom by three floating black crosses following the sloping wave bar. "
History of the coat of arms: In the coat of arms, which has been used since 1966, the wavy bar symbolizes the part of the place name -bach (the Haibach ). The oak rice indicates the location of the place in the western Spessart, where there is still a very extensive oak population. The six-spoke “Mainz Wheel” was taken from the coat of arms of the Archbishopric and Electorate of Mainz, to whose sovereign territory Haibach belonged for centuries. The origin and meaning of the three crosses on the Bessenbacher Weg in Haibach are no longer known. They are a locally legendary landmark of the community. |
