Coat of arms history
The municipality of Krombach was largely owned by the Counts of Rieneck and the seat of a regional court. The counts died out in 1559 and the community came into the possession of the Archbishopric of Mainz . In 1666 the family of the barons and later counts von Schönborn acquired the Krombach district court. The place became the center of the counts' possessions in the upper Kahltal. The lion from the coat of arms of Count Schönborn is a reminder of their rule. The division of red and gold in the shield head was taken from the coat of arms of the Counts of Rieneck. The colors red and silver come from the coat of arms of the Electorate of Mainz, to which the place belonged.
The coat of arms has been in use since June 8, 1967.
