The Rohrbrunner Forest is a 37.74 km² community-free area in the district of Aschaffenburg in the Bavarian Spessart . The area is completely forested .

The Rohrbrunner Forest is the largest community-free area in Lower Franconia and currently the seventh largest in Bavaria. It completely encloses the Rohrbrunn district , which gives it its name , which today belongs to the Weibersbrunn community as an exclave . The three highest peaks of the Spessart are located in the Rohrbrunn Forest: the Geiersberg at 586 m above sea level. NHN , the Lärchhöhe at 573 m above sea level. The community-free area extends from the Echterspfahl (zu Mespelbrunn ), which is an enclave in the forest in the west , to Erlenfurt (zu Rothenbuch ) in the Hafenlohr valley in the northeast. Another enclave in the Rohrbrunner Forest is the lower Rohrwiesenbachtal , which belongs to Weibersbrunn . In the extreme southeast of the community-free area is the Haselbrunnen , the source of the Haslochbach . About 500 m southwest of it, on the edge of the forest, is the point where the districts of Aschaffenburg, Main-Spessart and Miltenberg meet.

Culture and sights

Broadcaster Breitsol

The Schweinfurt Cross is located near Rohrbrunn. It is a reminder that in 1609 a merchant's assistant from Schweinfurt was stopped by robbers, robbed and then beaten to death.

On the eastern edge of the Rohrbrunn Forest lies the summit of the Geiersberg, the highest mountain in the Spessart. It says the broadcaster Breitsol .

The Eichhall natural forest reserve on Geiersberg, with oaks that are over 400 years old.

The federal highway 3 , the state roads 2312 (former federal road 8 ) from Hessenthal to Bischbrunn , the 2316 from Krausenbach to Rothenbuch and the state road 2317 from Schollbrunn to Rohrbrunn run through the Rohrbrunner Forst .

Two historical main roads lead through the Rohrbrunn Forest: the Eselsweg and the Poststraße .
