etymology
The name Schollbrunn comes from the word scholle and Middle High German brunne . It means clod of earth and spring or well. The explanation arises from "a spring that rises from clods of earth". At times the word stale , for loud din or sound , was interpreted; the source is named after its sound.

history
Until the church is planted
Schollbrunn belonged to the Grafschaft Wertheim of the Counts Löwenstein-Wertheim until the 19th century . The county belonged to the Franconian Empire between 1500 and 1806 . In the course of mediatization , Schollbrunn fell to the Prince-Primary State in 1806 and to the Grand Duchy of Frankfurt in 1810. There it was in 1812 including two courtyards, three mills and the former Karthaus Grünau with 94 campfire sites and 494 inhabitants as Mairie in the Triefenstein district of the Aschaffenburg department. Maire was Peter Pfenning. The Catholic school teacher was called Johann Geis and the Protestant PJ Nitschky. In 1814 Schollbrunn fell to the Kingdom of Bavaria with the Triefenstein District Fair . In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria, today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .
Administrative history
In 1862 the district office of Marktheidenfeld was formed, on whose administrative area Schollbrunn was located. In 1939, as everywhere in the German Reich, the designation district was introduced. Schollbrunn was now one of the 47 communities in the Marktheidenfeld district . With the dissolution of this district, Schollbrunn became part of the newly formed district of Mittelmain on July 1, 1972, which ten months later received its final name, district of Main-Spessart .
The Burg Reinstein , family seat of the Lords of Reinstein , a Ministerialengeschlecht the Bishopric of Würzburg from the 12th to the 16th century, was a spur castle , probably from the 13th century, and was on the southern spur of Rehberg in today's Scholl Brunner district (formerly Michel Riether Forst ) above the Haslochbach valley in southern Spessart north of the Nickelsmühle.
