history
District Office
The district office of Marktheidenfeld was formed in 1862 through the merger of the regional courts of the older order Marktheidenfeld and Stadtprozelten .
In 1872, the Lohr am Main district office ceded the municipalities of Bergrothenfels , Erlach am Main , Neustadt am Main , Rothenfels , Steinfeld and Waldzell of the old Rothenfels regional court to the Marktheidenfeld district office.
On October 21, 1873, the Pflochsbach community was ceded to the Lohr am Main district office.
On the occasion of the reform of the layout of the Bavarian district offices, the Marktheidenfeld district office received the Wildensee municipality from the Obernburg district office on January 1, 1880, when the municipalities of the old Rothenfels district court were again assigned to the Lohr am Main district office. On July 1, 1883, Wildensee returned to the Obernburg am Main district office.
On April 1, 1931, the Marktheidenfeld district office handed over the communities of Fechenbach and Reistenhausen to the Miltenberg district office .
district
On January 1, 1939, the designation district was introduced as everywhere else in the German Reich . The district office of Marktheidenfeld became the district office.
On July 1, 1972, the district was dissolved as part of the regional reform in Bavaria :

- The communities of Böttigheim , Helmstadt , Holzkirchen , Holzkirchhausen , Neubrunn , Remlingen , Uettingen and Wüstenzell came to the district of Würzburg.
- All other municipalities came to the then so-called new district of Mittelmain , which on May 1, 1973 was given the current name of district Main-Spessart .
The last district administrator of the Marktheidenfeld district was Albin M. Niklaus from September 19, 1965 (* December 15, 1924, † October 10, 2000).
