district Court

As a result of the administrative reform of 1838 in the Kingdom of Bavaria , the Oberviechtach Regional Court was established in 1840 and 38 communities were assigned to it. Over the years, the number kept changing.

District Office

In 1862, as a result of the separation of the judiciary and administration, the regional court district of Oberviechtach and the regional court district of Neunburg vorm Wald were merged to form the district office of Neunburg vorm Wald.

On October 1, 1900, the Oberviechtach district office was formed from 37 communities in the Neunburg vorm Wald district office .

district

On January 1, 1939, the uniform imperial designation Landkreis was introduced. The district office became the Oberviechtach district.

In 1946 the district of Oberviechtach was enlarged to include the municipality of Gmeinsrieth in the district of Vohenstrauß. Gmeinsrieth was split up. One part came to Dietersdorf, the other to Schönsee .

In 1946, some communities were dissolved and connected to other communities.

On July 1, 1972, the Oberviechtach district was dissolved as part of the regional reform in Bavaria . The communities Altenschneeberg , Hannesried , Heinrichskirchen , Irlach and Schönau came to the district of Cham . All other communities were combined with parts of the districts of Amberg , Burglengenfeld , Neunburg vorm Wald , Nabburg , Regensburg and Roding as well as the previously independent town of Schwandorf to form the new district of Schwandorf .
