Pirkhof is a district of the town of Oberviechtach in the Upper Palatinate district of Schwandorf in Bavaria .

Geographical location

Pirkhof is located on State Road 2160 a few meters above the Murach valley and the village of Lukahammer . To the southwest of Pirkhof, the Murach stands in the way of the granite massif of the 643 m high Roßhaupt, so that it gives way to the west. The dammed Murach forms the Mühlweiher near Pirkhof.

history

Pirkhof is mentioned in writing for the first time in the sample protocol from 1587. The name Pirkhof refers to the birch forest that existed here in earlier times. In 1902 Pirkhof received a post office. As of March 23, 1913 (Easter), Pirkhof was listed as part of the Oberviechtach parish with 15 houses and 90 residents. Pirkhof was an independent municipality until January 1, 1946, when it came to Wildeppenried. On December 31, 1990 Pirkhof had 76 inhabitants and belonged to the parish of Oberviechtach.
