Lukahammer

Lukahammer is a district of the town of Oberviechtach in the Upper Palatinate district of Schwandorf in Bavaria .

Geographical location

Lukahammer is located a few meters below the state road 2160 and the village of Pirkhof in the Murach valley . The Murach stands in the way south of Lukahammer, the granite massif of the 643 m high Roßhaupt, so that it gives way to the west. The dammed Murach forms the mill pond near Lukahammer.

history

A rail hammer was operated in Lukahammer from the 15th to the 17th century . He had a pelican as a hammer sign. In the 16th century Lukahammer tried in vain to prevent Peter Zollatsch from Waltenried from rebuilding the hammer in Plechhammer because of feared competition . In 1602 the ironworks Sandthöfer was on the hammer, followed by Klausewitz.

In the 18th century, after the downfall of the hammer mill, four glass loops were set up in Lukahammer, which were operated from 1762 by the Bohemian glass masters Schmauß and Hafenbrädl, the Baron von Murach and the Suckart family. They died after the First World War . In 1872 Wolfgang Kreuzer bought the old hammer mill and manufactured tools, shovels and plowshares there. His son Johann Nepomuk Kreuzer expanded the factory to include a mechanical workshop that produced equipment for grinding machines. He also had a repair shop for agricultural machines there and manufactured small hydroelectric power stations and mill equipment. Due to unfavorable economic conditions, his son Georg Kreuzer closed the business in 1930.

On March 23, 1913 (Easter), Lukahammer was listed as part of the Parish Pullenried, branch church Wildeppenried, with four houses and 34 residents. On December 31, 1990, Lukahammer had 26 residents and was part of the Wildeppenried branch.
