Geographical location

Tressenried lies to the southeast above the Siebental. The Steinbach rises in the Siebental, northeast of Tressenried . In its headwaters it is called Siechenbach. history

In Duke Urbar was 1285, property of Duke Ludwig II. Of Bavaria at Lind a Chrehsenerivt mentioned (Kress Ried). This name was retained as a forest department name after the fall of the wasteland and appeared in the 1499 interest register. It was probably eponymous for the later Tressenried.

Tressenried was mentioned in writing for the first time in the draft protocol of 1587. In the "Statistical Description of the Upper Palatinate" by Joseph von Destouches from 1809, Tressenried appeared with eight houses as belonging to Fuchsberg and Teunz . To the east of Tressenried lies the 639 m high Brennhippl (= burning hill), on which a charcoal burner used to have his kiln. As of March 23, 1913 (Easter) Tressenried was listed as part of the Oberviechtach parish with seven houses and 49 inhabitants. In 1928 a village chapel was built in Tressenried in honor of the Virgin Mary ( BMV ). Tressenried was incorporated into Oberviechtach in 1946. On December 31, 1990 Tressenried had 61 inhabitants and belonged to the parish of Oberviechtach.
