Gartenried is a district of the town of Oberviechtach in the Upper Palatinate district of Schwandorf in Bavaria .

Geographical location

The village of Gartenried is located on a southwest slope above the Murach between Wildeppenried and Lukahammer .

history

Gartenried was mentioned in writing in 1630 together with Kühried as belonging to Wildeppenried.

On March 23, 1913 (Easter), the place Gartenried had 10 houses and 64 inhabitants.

On December 31, 1969 the community Wildeppenried had 360 inhabitants and an area of ​​851 ha. It included Wildeppenried (44 houses), Pirkhof (17 houses), Lukahammer (7 houses), Gartenried (8 houses), Kotzenhof (2 houses) and Schieberberg (1 house).

On December 31, 1990, Gartenried had 42 inhabitants and was part of the Wildeppenried branch.

North Bavarian gunnery meeting

As part of the anniversary of the gunnery group of the Schützengesellschaft Almenrausch-Pirkhof eV, the North Bavarian gunnery meeting took place with several hundred gunmen. The finale of this festival was a big shooting.

This event became known through the accompaniment of the festivities by the Bayerischer Rundfunk, which gave this event a worthy conclusion in its show celebrating Bavaria.
