Hof is a district of the town of Oberviechtach in the Upper Palatinate district of Schwandorf ( Bavaria ).

Geographical location

Hof is located on the northwestern outskirts of Oberviechtach on the road from Oberviechtach to Teunz .

history

The village of Hof was settled very early, its exact age cannot be determined. The Romanesque St. Aegidius Chapel, made of large stone blocks, was built around 1150. It is the only surviving Romanesque building in the municipality of Oberviechtach. However, some things have been changed in recent times: the original side entrance was relocated to the front, from which a round window was broken out. The window openings were enlarged, a gable tower was added. The narrow choir window is still original. In 1840 Hof was incorporated by the Neunburg vorm Wald district court into the newly created Oberviechtach first class district court. As of March 23, 1913 (Easter), Hof was listed as part of the Oberviechtach parish with 10 houses and 57 residents. In 1946 Hof was incorporated into Oberviechtach. On December 31, 1990 Hof had 55 Catholics and belonged to the parish of Oberviechtach.
