Wildeppenried is a district of the town of Oberviechtach in the Upper Palatinate district of Schwandorf in Bavaria .

Geographical location

Wildeppenried is located in the headwaters of the Goldbach, surrounded by meadows and fields together with Pullenried on a plateau that slopes gently into the Murach Valley, about two kilometers south-east , on the SAD44 road that connects Oberviechtach with Schönsee .

history

In 1398 Pullenried (as Pulenrewt ) and Wildeppenried (as Eppenrewt ) were both mentioned as pastoral care offices in the vicariate's accounts . Around 1400 Wildeppenried was a church fiefdom of the Landgraves of Leuchtenberg . In 1438 the parish of Wildeppenried was described as devastated. After the area had been devastated by the Hussites, Wildeppenried was assigned to the Teunz parish in 1526. With the Reformation, Wildeppenried and Pullenried came to the parish of Schönsee in 1556 as branches. In 1616 there was a school for Wildeppenried and Pullenried. This school died in 1643 due to lack of money. There was a schoolhouse in Wildeppenried, built in 1850, which was used as such until 1954 and was then demolished because it was in disrepair. In 1873 there was only one teacher in Wildeppenried who taught 119 students. In 1904 another school house was built and a second teacher was hired. From 1969 the children of the lower grades (1st to 4th grades) went to Pullenried and the children of the upper grades (from 5th grade) to Oberviechtach.

On March 23, 1913 (Easter) the place Wildeppenried had 34 houses and 180 inhabitants. At that time, Wildeppenried was a branch of Pullenried with the villages Aufhäusl (Schlosshäusl) (1 house, 3 inhabitants), Bühelhäusl (1 house, 4 inhabitants), Gartenried (10 houses, 64 inhabitants), Gartenriedermühle (1 house, 9 inhabitants), Höcherlmühle (1 house, 4 inhabitants), Kotzenhof (2 houses, 14 inhabitants), Kühried (26 houses, 135 inhabitants), Kühriedermühle (1 house, 7 inhabitants), Kühschlag (1 house, 4 inhabitants), Lukahammer (4 houses, 34 inhabitants), Wildeppenriedermühle (1 house, 9 inhabitants) and Wildstein (31 houses, 158 inhabitants).

In 1931/32 the Wildeppenried branch was established for which the chaplain von Pullenried was responsible.

On December 31, 1969, the community had 360 inhabitants and an area of 851 ha. It included Wildeppenried (44 houses), Pirkhof (17 houses), Lukahammer (7 houses), Gartenried (8 houses), Kotzenhof (2 houses) and Schieberberg (1 house).

On December 31, 1990 Wildeppenried had 157 Catholics.

Wildeppenried, which was still part of the Pullenried parish in 1913, was listed as a branch in 1990 with 554 Catholics and 16 non-Catholics and the villages of Wildeppenried, Gartenried, Gartenriedermühle, Höcherlmühle, Kotzenhof, Kühried, Kühriedermühle, Lukahammer and Wildstein.

Today (2013) Wildeppenried belongs to the parish Oberviechtach in the deanery Neunburg-Oberviechtach .

Culture and sights

The church of St. Bartholomäus stands on the western edge of Wildeppenried a little higher on a basalt stick. It was built in 1872/75 after the previous building fell victim to a major fire in 1869. A wooden figure of St. Bartholomew from the 18th century stands on the high altar. An old, worn tombstone was placed in the cemetery wall next to the morgue. A helmet jewel that can still be recognized on it refers to the family of the Frankengruner.
