history

In the 13th century the four Archipresbyteral districts of the Diocese of Regensburg were divided into deaneries. Each dean's office was headed by a dean elected by the pastors of the dean's office. In 1837 the dean's office in Neunburg vorm Wald was formed, and in 1914 the dean's office in Oberviechtach. On February 1, 1996, the two deaneries Neunburg and Oberviechtach existed with the following parishes:
