Gaisthal is a district of the town of Schönsee in the Upper Palatinate district of Schwandorf in Bavaria .

The Ascha flows through the village . The main roads in the village are state roads 2159 and  2152 . Schönsee is around 4.7 kilometers as the crow flies. Gaisthal lies at an altitude of around 530  m above sea level. NN .

In 1945 or 1946 part of the dissolved municipality of Pirkhof was incorporated. On January 1, 1975, the previously independent municipality of Gaisthal came to the city of Schönsee.
