Ziegelhütte is a district of the town of Schönsee in the Upper Palatinate district of Schwandorf in Bavaria .

The Einöde Ziegelhütte is located on the slopes of the Lauber Berg north of Schönsee.

The name Ziegelhütte is a reminder of the occurrence of clay containing kaolin in the area of the ice age slope, which was used in earlier times for brick-burning . However, the material was usually not of high quality and stocks were soon exhausted. In the Zwick brickworks, which was put into operation after the Second World War, to the east of Ziegelhütte and down the slope, bricks were still produced until 1966 . The hollow between the Ziegelhütte and the former Schönsee train station is a mineral wet floor or gleib floor, where the water table is only 40 to 80 cm below the surface. Under a thin, dark brown top layer there is gray rust-stained earth. The Glei horizon with evenly bluish layers lies in the groundwater. These soils are poor in nutrients and have moderately fertile meadows , interspersed with sour grass , rushes and mosses . In terms of climate , the hollow between the Ziegelhütte and Schallerhammer forms a draft route for cold air .
