Friedrichshäng is a district of the town of Schönsee in the Upper Palatinate district of Schwandorf in Bavaria .

Geographical location

The 30 or so buildings in Friedrichshäng are on the sunny southern slope of the 817 m high Eulenberg on the border with the Czech Republic. Behind Dietersdorf in the Weberhäuser district, the road to Friedrichshäng branches off from State Road 2159 to the north. Schönsee is around 5.5 kilometers by road.

history

Friedrichshäng was founded in 1764 by Baron Friedrich Karg von Bebenburg as a forest workers' settlement.

On March 23, 1913 (Easter), Friedrichshäng was listed as part of the Schönsee parish with 24 houses and 135 inhabitants. On December 31, 1990 Friedrichshäng had 38 inhabitants and belonged to the parish of Schönsee.

Culture and sights

A footpath leads from Friedrichshäng across the Czech border to the former German town of Plöß (Czech: Pleš), where the only preserved house is an inn. There is also a former German cemetery in Plöß.
