Mitterlangau is a district of the town of Oberviechtach in the Upper Palatinate district of Schwandorf , Bavaria . The area of Mitterlangau roughly corresponds to the size of the former municipality of Langau , which was incorporated into the town of Oberviechtach on July 1, 1976.

Geographical location

Mitterlangau is the middle village in the Langau . 2 km north above is Oberlangau and 2 km south-west follows Unterlangau . The Langau (= Lange Au) is a narrow, light, north-south-facing meadow valley between the dense forests of the 750 m high Stangenberg in the west and the 808.6 m high Stückberg -Greiner massif in the east. On the slopes of the Stückberg-Greiner massif, the Murach rises from numerous sources and flows west down through Oberlangau, where it turns south, and through Mitterlangau. Then it flows east to Unterlangau, which is slightly offset to the west, past towards Pirkhof .

history

In 1285 a village Langau (villa Langenowe) was mentioned, which was subordinate to the Waidhaus office . In 1318 the gold works in Langenau (together with the Öde Walprechtsreuth) were pledged to Konrad Paulsdorfer von Tännesberg for 60 pounds Regensburg pfennigs . In the Urbar of 1326 Langau is no longer listed. The Langenau gold prospect was also no longer mentioned in the late Middle Ages . The villages of Ober-, Mitter- and Unterlangau were founded in the 16th century.

Mitterlangau is mentioned in writing for the first time in the draft protocol from 1587. Mitterlangau belonged to the parish Pullenried . The area around Mitterlangau was depopulated by the Thirty Years' War. In 1818 the community Mitterlangau was formed, to which Unterlangau also belonged. In 1830 the municipality of Oberlangau was incorporated into Mitterlangau and the municipality of Langau was formed. On March 23, 1913 (Easter), Mitterlangau was listed as part of the Pullenried parish with 18 houses and 101 inhabitants. On December 31, 1969, the municipality of Langau had 397 inhabitants. In addition to Ober-, Mitter- and Unterlangau, it also included Pirk , Brandhäuser , Tannermühle , Gütting , Waldhäusl and Bockhaus. On December 31, 1990 Mitterlangau had 89 inhabitants and belonged to the parish Pullenried and the municipality of Oberviechtach.

school

The children from Mitterlangau went to school in Pullenried, which was built in 1848. Since the 3 km long way to school from Mitterlangau to Pullenried was difficult for the children, especially in winter, Mitterlangau and Oberlangau decided to build their own school on July 3, 1851. When the residents of Mitterlangau and Oberlangau became aware of the costs associated with building a school and maintaining a teacher, they tried to call this project off again. However, these financial concerns were overcome by a resolution of the government in Regensburg of December 12, 1851 in which the villages were granted a grant for the construction of a new school in the amount of 1000 guilders and a grant for the teaching salary of 129 guilders. As a result, disputes between Oberlangau and Mitterlangau about the location of the school prevented construction from starting. Finally, in the spring of 1853, construction of the school in Mitterlangau began. On June 5, 1853, there was a severe thunderstorm in Mitterlangau that caused great damage. Only at the urging of the government in Regensburg could the building of the school be completed on November 6th, 1853 despite all these obstacles. The school in Mitterlangau opened on January 26, 1854. In 1886 51 children were educated there. At the end of the Second World War Mitterlangau was under fire at times, then American soldiers occupied the school building. On November 22, 1945, classes could be resumed. In 1967 the school in Mitterlangau was closed and the children were taken to Pullenried by school bus. In 1969 the school in Pullenried was closed and the children from Mitterlangau were sent to Oberviechtach.

religion

In Mitterlangau there is a Sacred Heart Chapel built in 1953 . On the request days , requests are made from Pullenried to Mitterlangau.
