Oberlangau is a district of the town of Oberviechtach in the Upper Palatinate district of Schwandorf in Bavaria .
Geographical location
Oberlangau is the northernmost village in the Langau . Mitterlangau and Unterlangau follow it to the south at a distance of about 2 km . The Langau (= Lange Au) is a narrow, light, north-south-facing meadow valley between the dense forests of the 750 m high Stangenberg in the west and the 808.6 m high Stückberg -Greiner massif in the east. On the slopes of the Stückberg-Greiner massif, the Murach rises from numerous sources, flows west down through Oberlangau and then south through Langau towards Pirkhof .
history
In 1285 a village Langau (villa Langenowe) was mentioned, which was subordinate to the Waidhaus office . In 1318 the gold works in Langenau (together with the Öde Walprechtsreuth) were pledged to Konrad Paulsdorfer von Tännesberg for 60 pounds Regensburg pfennigs . In the Urbar of 1326 Langau is no longer listed. The Langenau gold prospect was also no longer mentioned in the late Middle Ages . The villages of Ober-, Mitter- and Unterlangau were founded in the 16th century.
Oberlangau is mentioned in writing for the first time in the draft protocol from 1587. Oberlangau belonged to the parish Pullenried . The area around Oberlangau was depopulated by the Thirty Years' War. In 1830 the municipality of Oberlangau was incorporated into Mitterlangau, which has been called Langau ever since . As of March 23, 1913 (Easter) Oberlangau was listed as part of the Pullenried parish with 19 houses and 105 inhabitants. On December 31, 1969, the municipality of Langau had 397 inhabitants. In addition to Ober-, Mitter- and Unterlangau, it also included Pirk , Brandhäuser , Tannermühle , Gütting , Waldhäusl and Bockhaus. On December 31, 1990, Oberlangau had 70 inhabitants and belonged to the Parish Pullenried and the municipality of Oberviechtach.
school
The children from Oberlangau went to school in Pullenried, which was built in 1848. Since the 5 km long way to school from Oberlangau to Pullenried was difficult for the children, especially in winter, Mitterlangau and Oberlangau decided to build their own school on July 3, 1851. The school was built in Mitterlangau and opened on January 26, 1854. In 1886 51 children were educated there. At the end of the Second World War Mitterlangau was under fire at times, then American soldiers occupied the school building. On November 22, 1945, classes could be resumed. In 1967 the school in Mitterlangau was closed and the children were taken to Pullenried by school bus. In 1969 the school in Pullenried was closed and the children from Oberlangau were sent to Oberviechtach.
