The district of Krumbach (Swabia) was a district in the Bavarian administrative district of Swabia . Krumbach (Swabia) was the district town. The most populous communities in the district, which before the beginning of the regional reform in Bavaria in the early 1970s consisted of 49 communities, were Krumbach, Thannhausen , Ziemetshausen and Ursberg .

location
The district of Krumbach was located in the southwest of Bavaria, roughly in the middle of the administrative district of Swabia .
Most of the area of the former district lies on the Untere Iller-Lech gravel plates . Only the areas east of the Mindeltal are on the perennial plate . The former district is traversed from south to north by the following rivers: Günz , Kammel , Mindel, Zusam and some streams that flow into these rivers.
The highest point of the former district is near Weiler at about 605 m above sea level. NN, the deepest in the Kammeltal near Ried or Behlingen with 470 m above sea level. NN.

Starting in 1972, the district bordered clockwise in the north on the districts of Günzburg , Augsburg , Schwabmünchen , Mindelheim , Illertissen and Neu-Ulm .

district Court
The Regional Court of Ursberg was founded in 1804 . In 1837 the seat of the regional court was relocated to Krumbach and renamed the regional court Krumbach .
District Office
The district office in 1862 Krumbach followed the same area district court earlier order Krumbach (Schwaben).
On January 1, 1880, the district office was enlarged by some municipalities from the district offices of Illertissen and Mindelheim and at the same time transferred municipalities to the Augsburg district office .
On January 1, 1939, the uniform designation Landkreis was introduced in the German Reich . The district office became the district of Krumbach (Swabia).

On July 1, 1972, the district of Krumbach (Swabia) was dissolved as part of the regional reform in Bavaria :
- The communities Hasberg and Tiefenried from the south of the district came to the Unterallgäu district .
- All other communities were combined with the district of Günzburg, the independent city of Günzburg and the communities of Schönebach and Uttenhofen of the district of Augsburg to form the Günz district. On May 1, 1973 the new district was given the current name of the Günzburg district .

Communities
Until the Bavarian territorial reform, the district comprised 49 municipalities. In 1900 the Krumbach district office had three more communities. In 1902 Hürben was incorporated into Krumbach. In 1905 the communities of Bayersried and Ursberg merged to form the community of Bayersried-Ursberg . In 1926 the municipality of Höselhurst was incorporated into the municipality of Wattenweiler .

License Plate
On July 1, 1956, the district was assigned the distinctive sign KRU when the vehicle registration number that is still valid today was introduced . It was issued until August 3, 1974. Since July 13, 2013 it has been available again in the district of Günzburg due to the license plate liberalization .
