Attenhausen is a district of Krumbach (Swabia) with 361 inhabitants. The village is located about three and a half kilometers northeast of Krumbach in the valley of the Haselbach .

history

The name Attenhausen comes from the fact that it was the settlement of an ato . Attenhausen is first mentioned in a document in 1130, when the Free Wernher and Udalrich transferred their estate Attenhausen to the Ursberg monastery . Until secularization in 1803, Ursberg was the landlord and sovereign of all Attenhausen properties. Apparently all of Attenhausen's houses, including the church, were set on fire during the Thirty Years War .

Attenhausen has been an important place of pilgrimage since around 1620. The pilgrimage began after the Ursberg Abbot Vitus Schönhainz had a statue of St. Otmar put up in the church.
The current parish church was built in 1759 by Johann Martin Kraemer in the Rococo style.

When the Ursberg monastery was dissolved in 1803 and the territory of the monastery fell to Bavaria , Attenhausen also became Bavarian. On January 1, 1977, the previously independent community of Attenhausen became a district of Krumbach as part of the regional reform .
