history
District Office
The district office of Oberdorf was formed in 1862 through the merger of the regional courts of the older order of Oberdorf and Obergünzburg .
On the occasion of the reform of the layout of the Bavarian district offices, the Oberdorf district office received the municipality of Lengenwang from the Füssen district office on January 1, 1880 .
On April 6, 1909, the Oberdorf district office was renamed Marktoberdorf district office .
district
On January 1, 1939, the designation district was introduced as everywhere else in the German Reich . So the district office of Marktoberdorf (officially Markt Oberdorf) became the district office.
On July 1, 1972, the district of Marktoberdorf was redesigned as part of the regional reform in Bavaria . His community Ingenried was assigned to the district of Weilheim-Schongau in the administrative district of Upper Bavaria . The remaining municipalities were combined with most of the Kaufbeuren district and the Füssen district to form the new Marktoberdorf district, which was renamed the Ostallgäu district on May 1, 1973 .

License Plate
On July 1, 1956, the district was assigned the distinguishing symbol MOD when the vehicle registration number that is still valid today was introduced . The license plates of the districts of Marktoberdorf and Füssen ( FÜS ) remained valid for several years after these districts were dissolved on July 1, 1972. In particular because of violent protests from the former Füssen district, the OAL license plate was only valid for the entire district without restrictions since August 1, 1979 .
Since July 10, 2013, the distinctive MOD has been available again in the Ostallgäu district ( license plate liberalization ).
