history
Thalhofen an der Wertach belongs to a group of 13 neighboring "-hofen" places on the upper Wertach. The place was first mentioned in 1059 as Grenzmark ( Talehoven ). In 1252, the male line of a local family went out, initially in the service of the Ottobeuren monastery, then the Ronsberger and finally the Kemnater. The last lord of the castle was Hans von Ramschwag on Kemnat in 1337. The mill was a monastery fiefdom. In the 15th century, the kemnatic ownership of Thalhofen went to the bishopric of Augsburg, which in the 16th century was in possession of all jurisdictions. After the Thirty Years' War, 20 farmers lived with their families in 22 1/2 houses in Thalhofen. After the often ecclesiastical properties of East Swabia were secularized at the beginning of the 19th century and Bavaria was added, the pastor of Thalhofen is said to have exclaimed the famous sentence: "So we are Bavarian - God have mercy on us all!"
When the community Thalhofen was formed in 1809, the place had 46 houses. Weibletshofen also belonged to the 574 hectare community . On April 1, 1972, the community was incorporated into the district town of Marktoberdorf.
