Bertoldshofen (older spelling also Bertholdshofen ; dialect Berletshofa ) is a district of the town of Marktoberdorf and a district in the Bavarian district of Ostallgäu .

geography

The parish village with around 1000 inhabitants is located about four kilometers east of the Marktoberdorf town center and is traversed by the Geltnach from south to north . The traffic is developed in a west-east direction through the federal highway 472 , which connects Marktoberdorf with Schongau , as well as through the district road OAL 5, which connects Bertoldshofen in the north with the federal highway 16 towards Kaufbeuren . The Marktoberdorf / Bertoldshofen bypass, which has been planned for many years, has only been partially built due to objections and will be implemented with a tunnel solution from 2018. The parish village of Bertoldshofen, the parish village of Burk , the villages of Hausen and Selbensberg and the hamlets of Gehren and Hagmoos are located in the district .

history

The lords of repellents, ministerials of high pin Augsburg , managed in the Middle Ages by a castle on Bertoldshofen the goods of the Augsburg prince bishop. In 1443 Bertoldshofen was decoupled from the neighboring Altdorf and became an independent parish with the clergyman Johann Seldner. After the founding of the Antonius Brotherhood in 1684, an important pilgrimage developed in Bertoldshofen. 1818 was awarded the Bavarian Gemeindeedikt the community Bertoldshofen founded. On July 1, 1972, Bertoldshofen was incorporated into Marktoberdorf.
