About this picture

The district of Laufen was a district in the Bavarian administrative district of Upper Bavaria . It was dissolved on July 1, 1972 as part of the regional reform.

geography

location

The district essentially comprised the historical areas of the former district court of Laufen of the Archbishopric of Salzburg , which had fallen to Bavaria after the secularization ( Rupertiwinkel ).

Neighboring areas

In 1972 the district bordered counterclockwise in the north, beginning with the districts of Altötting , Traunstein and Berchtesgaden .

history

District Office

The district office of Laufen was formed in 1862 through the merger of the district courts of the older order Laufen and Tittmoning.

On the occasion of the reform of the layout of the Bavarian district offices, the Laufen district office ceded the municipalities to the Traunstein district office on January 1, 1880.

district

On January 1, 1939, as in the whole of the German Reich, the term district was introduced. This is how the district office became the district of Laufen.

The coat of arms at the district office in Laufen

On January 1, 1970, the Lauter community in the Laufen district was reorganized into the Traunstein district and incorporated into the Surberg community .

The district of Laufen was divided into three parts as part of the Bavarian territorial reform on July 1, 1972: Its district town of Laufen , located on the border with Austria, today, like the southeastern part of the former district, belongs to the district of Berchtesgadener Land , which until May 1, 1973 was temporarily the district of Bad Reichenhall was called. Its western part became part of the Traunstein district and the Tyrlaching community fell to the Altötting district .

License Plate

On July 1, 1956, the district was assigned the distinctive sign LF when the license plates that are still valid today were introduced . The license plate of the former district of Laufen was issued for a good seven years after its dissolution on July 1, 1972, as was the license plate BGD for the former district of Berchtesgaden and REI for the former urban district of Bad Reichenhall . In particular because of violent protests from the former Berchtesgaden district, only the BGL license plate was issued for the entire district from August 1, 1979 .

With the reform of the Vehicle Registration Ordinance (" license plate liberalization ") that came into force on November 1, 2012 , the issue of old license plates is permitted again. After a narrow majority of the district council initially spoke out against this possibility in 2013, a district council resolution of July 22, 2016 came out in favor: In the district of Berchtesgadener Land, in addition to the BGL, the distinctive signs BGD , LF and REI have been used since September 15, 2016 "On request" issued again. In the district of Altötting , the LF label has been re-issued since October 1, and in the district of Traunstein since October 14, 2016.
