District Office
The Haßfurt district office was formed in 1862 through the merger of the older district courts of Eltmann and Haßfurt .

On January 1, 1939, the designation district was introduced as everywhere else in the German Reich . This is how the district office became the Haßfurt district.
The Haßfurt district was dissolved as part of the regional reform on July 1, 1972 and, together with most of the Ebern and Hofheim districts in Lower Franconia, incorporated into the new Haßberg district , which was renamed the Haßberge district on May 1, 1973 .

On July 1, 1956, the district was assigned the distinctive sign HAS when the vehicle registration number that is still valid today was introduced . It is still issued in the Haßberge district to this day.
