Location of Untertheres in Bavaria

Untertheres is a district of the Lower Franconian municipality of Theres in the Haßberge district .

Geographical location

Untertheres is located west of Theres on the B 26 , via which it is connected westward with Ottendorf and eastward with Theres and Obertheres. The A 70 runs south of Untertheres in an east-west direction . The Franconian Marienweg leads through Untertheres .

history

The first known mention of the early settlement of Untertheres, which was under the protection of the guard castle "Tharissa", was made in the year 889. The distinction between Untertheres and Obertheres was probably made in the Staufer period in a dispute between the Theres monastery and the community of Niederntheres in 1240 which went out in favor of the monastery. The official distinction between the two places began in 1348.

Under Abbot Gregor Fuchs (1715–1755) today's church replaced a previous building.

On May 1, 1978, Untertheres became part of Theres as part of the municipal reform.
