Location of Dampfach in Bavaria

Dampfach is a district of the Lower Franconian community of Wonfurt in the Haßberge district .

Geographical location

Dampfach is located southwest of Wonfurt and the Dampfach flows through it. The district road HAS 28 , which runs through the village , branches northwards to Horhausen (district of Theres ) and joins the SW 28 district road south-west and flows south- east into the St 2275 state road . The A 70 runs north of Dampfach in an east-west direction .

history

The first known documentary mention of the place as "(D) Ampfahe" comes from the year 1250. At that time Dampfach belonged to the Fulda monastery , later to the Donnersdorf community .

In 1569 there was a renewal of the village.

Because of the small number of inhabitants, Dampfach did not have its own church. The residents first attended the service in Theres and then in Donnersdorf. During the Reformation , Dampfach had various landlords , five of whom were Protestant and four were Catholic, so that the place changed its denomination several times. Dampfach was largely looked after by the parish Donnersdorf and has belonged to the parish parish community Theres-Wonfurt-Gädheim since November 1st, 2002.

In 1802 the dilapidated St. Andrew's Chapel from the Middle Ages was replaced by today's St. Andrew's Church in the classical style ; the interior decoration comes from the late work of Johann Peter Wagner .

On May 1, 1978, Dampfach became part of Wonfurt as part of the municipal reform.
